No posts lately

06 October 2006
I'm very sorry that no posts have been put up lately. I promise that they will start rolling here in another week or so. I'm extremely close to getting v4.0 up and rolling, so that's exciting, but taking a shade longer than expected. adamstoll.net and healthpro connections have been taking up my time and limiting some posts. Yes mom and dad, I'm sure I've done some school work in the last week or so to keep myself busy as well.

Friday was awesome. AO called me up, and we went to the Lincoln Stars vs. Omaha Lancers season opener. This was the first game that I've ever been to. I've had so many people tell me how fun they are and how crazy people get, so it was good that I went out and experienced it.

The atmosphere is pretty insane. You'd think for a purely football dominated state that no one would care too much about hockey, but there are some people there who lose their minds during the game. I guess $5 beer and people walking through the aisles while the puck is in play is enough to drop the f-bomb these days.

There was a lot that I found out too. I know most of the hockey rules, so it wasn't anything like that, but it was more about the actual team. They're high schoolers! I thought these were guys out of college, but everyone one of them are 15 or 16 years old. Apparently these kids come to Lincoln to go to high school just to play for the Stars so they can land a good scholarship to a college. With them being highschoolers, it's amazing how many people in the stands cuss and drop the f-bomb (yeah, those $5 beers probably come back into play).

I also love the jerseys. It seemed like I was the only one in the place without a jersey. But these just aren't your run of the mill, I'll go out and just get myself something to blend in jerseys, people customize the crap out of them. Every person has a name on the back but it's not just their last name. They try to come up with cool names like "Bead Man", "Krazy Karl", "Fun Guy", "Chomp" and my personal favorite "Wignut."

Anyways, to sum up, it was very cool. The Stars winning 7-1 also helps out a little.

Besides that, the Husker defense showed up. Hopefully they can tweak stuff out one more week and then be ready for Texas. Oh yeah, how fun is it to watch this happen this year?

Christi and I are celebrating 6 great years today. This will be the end of a streak until we start a new one in April. Cheers.
