Long wait to Denver
14 October 2006
There I am driving along merging through traffic all of the way to the airport when traffic almost comes to a stand still near downtown. After we all get out and push our cars along, I finally make it to Eppley. Because I thought the traffic would be a mimic of a cluster at Times Square, I got to the airport about two hours early. Whoops. Nothing more fun than sitting in airports ...
Good thing I have my laptop, but bad thing that Omaha makes you pay to use their internet. I guess they aren't making enough on the overpriced cinnamon rolls and pizza slices. I found a couple of people who have a P2P set up, and I tried to connect, but it was to no avail. That wasn't the bad part though. It was the other people here sitting with me. As I sit down, there are two people decked out in their Creighton gear: one guy and one girl. The guy is wearing the most Creighton Prep-ish attire that you could possibly imagine, and the girl was surely digging it. No more than 5 minutes later, 2 girls form the Creighton Crew team sit down and then they all notice they are from Creighton because it is written all over their clothes. Then out of no where, there are 3 more behind me. It's a little Creighton Prep reunion. Boom. Here come two more walking billboards into our section. None of these people know that they are on the same flight, but apparently the school must've had a deal with United Flight 461. This is sure scary. I guess it is Friday the 13th, so that probably makes sense for most of this.
After hearing 'Creighton Prep this' and 'Creighton Prep that' I couldn't take it anymore and I navigated my way to the bar. Not to fly like Uncle Bill, but to watch the A's - Tigers game. Baseball saves me once again. Is there a better sport out there? Um, no. No, there's not.
I'm sitting here right now writing this post in TextPad and hoping that my plane comes to the gate so I can just get to Denver and maybe publish this sometime later on today. The color blue is slowly taking over gate B13 as the departure time nears. I'm just crossing my fingers that the person sitting next to me is wearing a "Restore the Order" t-shirt instead of Nate Funk jersey.
Here's for hoping ...
