My dog one up's me

03 June 2008
Stanley's eye became infected over the weekend, turned red and began to puss up a little bit. This happened about a week earlier and he slept it off and was fine in the morning. After we tried our cheap remedy again on Saturday night, we awoke on Sunday to find him in even worse shape. As luck would have it, our vet wasn't open until Monday.

So Stan waited patiently in his kennel all day to go see the doc after Christi got off work. We were both shocked to find out that he had a thorn in his eye. We just played it off to allergies or getting some dirt in it outside.

Christi was fortunate enough to work from home today as she took Stan to the animal eye specialist. Want to know how sweet of a job this really is? She told Christi that she did cataract surgery on a penguin a week ago. Long story short, the thorn was stuck in the first part of his retina and Stan had to be sedated to have it surgically removed. I haven't even gone under the knife. Ever.

This means that Stan did something in his short 8 month old life that I actually hope I never have to do. So how good of a gig is it being an animal eye specialist? Let's just say that we could've bought another Stanley and had some money left over.
