College football award time (week 2)

11 September 2005
Here they are, like 'em or not:

Upset of the day: Iowa State over Iowa (16-3). The 'clones come in and just hand it to the Iowa at home. What a total domination shown by one of the big 12 north contenders. Don't even say that Notre Dame over Michigan was a bigger upset. Notre Dame did it two weeks in a row on the road, and they will upend USC at home. They are for real and that was no fluke. Touchdown Jesus will launch the Irish into the #2 spot when the upset the Trojans.

Heisman Disappointment: Brian Calhoun. A week after an unbelievable performance, Calhoun posted a dismal 42 yards on the 65-0 blowout win over Temple.

Heisman Props: Vince Young. Hands down, Vince took over the game and helped carry the #2 Horns to a great road win early in the year.

Heisman Watch: Sam Keller. This Sun Devil had a devil of a day. 461 passing yards with 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. Too bad that LSU had to make a great 4th quarter comeback, and keep Keller from winning the game. Win or loss, he still gets my game ball.

Biggest Disappointment: (tie) The Husker Offense. Two weeks have gone by, and the Husker nation still isn't excited about anything except the watching the defense on the field. There was only one great drive in the 3rd quarter and one big run by Ross. Still, the offense has not shown up on the field yet. They have only scored 2 touchdowns in two games..... while the defense has scored 4!

Biggest Disappointment: (tie) The Big Ten Conference. So much for all of that hype about being the best conference in the nation. I'm not saying the Big XII is by any means, but the Big Ten was horrible on Saturday. They had three Top Ten teams lose on the same day. Even worse, #3 Michigan and #4 Ohio State were playing at home. Way to go Buckeyes, Wolverines and Hawkeyes, you have all officially made the blog for being a disappointment to your conference!
