College football award time (week 4)

25 September 2005
Here they are, like 'em or not:

Upset of the day: South Florida over Louisville (45-14). It's not like this was a fluke win. This was an absolute crushing. No need to worry at the end of the year, as Louisville was this year's pre-season "We're going to have an undefeated record, but not make it to the championship game" team.

Heisman Disappointment: Brian Brohm. Followin' up winning the award for Upset of the day, Louisville enters again with their quarterback on this weeks list. Even though Brohm had a decent game (stats wise), you can't consider this guy for the Heisman anymore when he was only able to muster up 14 points against South Florida.

Heisman Props: Laurence Maroney. The Gophers needed every single 217 rushing yards that Maroney had to upset the Boilermakers in 2 OT. A career high for carries and yards places Maroney one step closer to getting a plane ticket to New York later this year.

Heisman Watch: Jason Beck. I know that you're thinking, "who the hell is Jason Beck?" Well, he's the quarterback that threw for 517 yards (with one overtime) in BYU's 1 point loss to TCU. Who knows, Beck could've thrown for around 600 yards if they didn't screw up the snap on the PAT after their OT touchdown.

Biggest Disappointment: Everyone knows who will win this award: The Oregon Ducks. After a 13-0 lead in Eugene, they disappointed everyone in the stands (and around the nation), as they finished the game by allowing USC to score 45 unanswered points. Quack quack .... way to blow the game.
